A major decarbonization project with SOFIAC

September 24, 2024

Launched in 2021, SOFIAC supports companies in the commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors with their development and ESG goals through the implementation of energy transition and decarbonization projects. SOFIAC’s innovative business model allows its clients to immediately benefit from savings achieved by reducing energy consumption, without requiring any investment on their part. Interview with Ms. Caroline Roy, General Director of Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy (CNDF), who is currently undertaking a major decarbonization project with SOFIAC.

What motivated you to choose SOFIAC for the decarbonization of your institution?

CNDF: Recognized as a heritage site due to its architectural and historical value (the buildings were constructed in 1962), it seemed essential for Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy to serve as a model for the community in terms of sustainable development. Thanks to SOFIAC’s expertise, we benefited from a turnkey decarbonization project that enhances the quality of life for students, without any initial cost on our part. SOFIAC’s team support was crucial in selecting technical partners and measures to be implemented. This strategic partnership allows us to exceed our short-term ambitions, leveraging their unique expertise.

What have been the main benefits and successes achieved through your collaboration with SOFIAC?

CNDF: The benefits in terms of well-being are significant. By modernizing our lighting with LEDs, CNDF not only achieves a substantial reduction in energy consumption but also provides students with improved visual comfort through precise control of light intensity and instant illumination. Additionally, updating our heating system allows students to benefit from effective temperature adjustments tailored to their actual needs. In the coming months, occupants will undoubtedly notice a significant improvement in their quality of life within our buildings.

What impact will this project have on the CNDF ecosystem, such as employees, students, or partners?

CNDF: As a private college recognized in Quebec, CNDF must be a model of social and environmental responsibility. We educate the citizens of tomorrow. It is important in our pedagogical approach to demonstrate that we can all take action to reduce our carbon footprint. We must put our words into action. This major decarbonization initiative is a strategic move that positions our college as a proactive player in the transition to a more sustainable society. Thanks to SOFIAC and our technical partner Johnson Controls, we benefit from long-term support to ensure sustainable results for decades to come.
